Setting up Dynamic Resolution

🛠️ Setting Up Dynamic Resolution in Lumina for CS1

Lumina now includes a fully refactored Dynamic Resolution system introduced in v1.8.8. Follow the steps below to enable and configure it properly.

⚙️ How to Enable Dynamic Resolution

  1. Launch Cities: Skylines 1 and go to the Options menu.

  2. Navigate to the Lumina settings Miscellanous Tab in the panel.

  3. Locate the Dynamic Resolution toggle (It will say Activate).

  4. Enable or disable as desired.

⚠️ Important: While the setting can be toggled from the Options menu, a game restart is required for the change to take full effect if you use this setting in-game. This is due to shaders being loaded at game start.

🎚️ Adjusting the Resolution Scale

  1. Use the Dynamic Resolution slider to set your desired resolution scale.

  2. To save your settings make sure you click the 'SET' button.

✅ Optimize VRAM Usage (Optional)

  • The Optimize VRAM Usage checkbox is available in the same settings panel.

  • Enable this option to reduce VRAM load.

  • This setting is stable and does not require a restart.

🔓 Unlock Slider (Advanced Users)

⚠️ Use with caution — unlocking this slider allows you to push Dynamic Resolution scaling beyond the safe default range, which can stress or overheat your GPU on weaker systems.

  • Enable it by checking "Unlock Slider" in the Options menu.

  • A warning will appear to confirm you're aware of the potential hardware risks.

  • When locked, the max resolution scale is 4.

  • When unlocked, the max scale increases to 10.

🔄 This option has been removed from the in-game menu — it’s only available from the main Options screen (v1.8.8 forward).

Use this feature only if you know your GPU can handle extreme scaling values.

💡 Troubleshooting

  • If the settings panel doesn’t reflect changes immediately, close and reopen the Options menu.

  • If settings aren’t saving, make sure you’re applying them from the Options menu, if in-game, restart your game.
